10,000 Reasons to Praise Him

Psalm 103:1-5

“Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy name.

Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—
who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

If you’re anything like me, it’s not easy to consciously praise God 24/7, in every situation. I know I should… but life happens. I get busy… distracted…think about something immediate that I need to focus on… thinking about my wife and 2 amazing girls and what they’re doing… we all have our own personal reasons and distractions.

But when I stop to think about God and His amazing love and blessings… I could think about tons of reasons to praise Him…maybe even 10,000 reasons…

You may have heard one of Matt Redman’s latest songs, “10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord, Oh My Soul), on the radio… or thankfully, we do at church occasionally. Love this song and  one of my favorites!  Below is the YouTube link for the music video & lyrics:

Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before, O my soul
I’ll worship Your holy name

The sun comes up, it’s a new day dawning
It’s time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes

You’re rich in love, and You’re slow to anger
Your name is great, and Your heart is kind
For all Your goodness I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find

And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing Your praise unending
Ten thousand years and then forevermore

Jesus, I’ll worship Your holy name
Lord, I’ll worship Your holy name

Sing like never before, O my soul
I’ll worship Your holy name
Jesus, I’ll worship Your holy name
I’ll worship Your holy name

Years ago, a friend made this point clear to the group at our church, saying “Worship” is NOT just something you do at church or a certain type of music. It IS a verb. It’s what you do…and who you are. It’s meant to flow from you 24/7.

Does this sound like you? I wish it was me. It is my desire. I want to be closer to Him. We’re always moving with God…and if I’m not actively pursuing and seeking Him…then I’m moving farther away from Him.

Do I seek Him when the sun comes up and facing the day ahead? Singing His praises and praising Him throughout the day…and closing my day with Him?

We are SO blessed!

Lord, I want to live more like this!    Please help me!
