I Want to “Live Like That” (Sidewalk Prophets)

Deuteronomy 30:16 –

“For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.”

Following up with worshiping God… my desire is for this… and to love God 24/7.

I want to live like that!

With all that I am…and the living example, everyone that I come in contact with should be able to tell that I’m a Christian. From the words that I use… to the love that I show… to every action that I do… people should be able to see Jesus in me.

Live Like That  (YouTube video)

Sometimes I think
What will people say of me
When I’m only just a memory
When I’m home where my soul belongs

Was I love
When no one else would show up
Was I Jesus to the least of those
Was my worship more than just a song

I want to live like that
And give it all I have
So that everything I say and do
Points to You
If love is who I am
Then this is where I stand
Recklessly abandoned
Never holding back
I want to live like that
I want to live like that

Am I proof
That You are who you say You are
That grace can really change a heart
Do I live like Your love is true

People pass
And even if they don’t know my name
Is there evidence that I’ve been changed
When they see me, do they see You

I want to live like that
I want to live like that

I want to show the world the love You gave for me
(I want to live like that)
I’m longing for the world to know the glory of the King

I want to live like that

Am I showing everyone… the love of God? From ‘the least of these’… to my co-workers… to my family.

With everything that I say and do… am I being the best example?

Are the words that come out of my mouth always positive and encouraging?

Do my actions have the purest intentions in mind?

You and me were bought at a price. A price that cost an innocent man, my Lord and Savior, His life.

He came to seek and save the lost… and for others to come into relationship and Know Him.

Is this the example that I am living and pointing others to Christ?

I want to live like that… do you?

10,000 Reasons to Praise Him

Psalm 103:1-5

“Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy name.

Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—
who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

If you’re anything like me, it’s not easy to consciously praise God 24/7, in every situation. I know I should… but life happens. I get busy… distracted…think about something immediate that I need to focus on… thinking about my wife and 2 amazing girls and what they’re doing… we all have our own personal reasons and distractions.

But when I stop to think about God and His amazing love and blessings… I could think about tons of reasons to praise Him…maybe even 10,000 reasons…

You may have heard one of Matt Redman’s latest songs, “10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord, Oh My Soul), on the radio… or thankfully, we do at church occasionally. Love this song and  one of my favorites!  Below is the YouTube link for the music video & lyrics:

Bless the Lord, O my soul, O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before, O my soul
I’ll worship Your holy name

The sun comes up, it’s a new day dawning
It’s time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes

You’re rich in love, and You’re slow to anger
Your name is great, and Your heart is kind
For all Your goodness I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find

And on that day when my strength is failing
The end draws near and my time has come
Still my soul will sing Your praise unending
Ten thousand years and then forevermore

Jesus, I’ll worship Your holy name
Lord, I’ll worship Your holy name

Sing like never before, O my soul
I’ll worship Your holy name
Jesus, I’ll worship Your holy name
I’ll worship Your holy name

Years ago, a friend made this point clear to the group at our church, saying “Worship” is NOT just something you do at church or a certain type of music. It IS a verb. It’s what you do…and who you are. It’s meant to flow from you 24/7.

Does this sound like you? I wish it was me. It is my desire. I want to be closer to Him. We’re always moving with God…and if I’m not actively pursuing and seeking Him…then I’m moving farther away from Him.

Do I seek Him when the sun comes up and facing the day ahead? Singing His praises and praising Him throughout the day…and closing my day with Him?

We are SO blessed!

Lord, I want to live more like this!    Please help me!

I’m Baaaack! Please Join Me on this Great Adventure!

About 5 years ago, I was writing devotional-type blogs everyday…for almost 2 years straight.

It was “therapy” for me and brought me closer to God… when I felt so far away. I had just gone through a divorce and I wasn’t myself. Through prayer and a radical way of almost self-recovery…OK, it was God!, I brought 2 things that I love together (God & Christian music) to make it easier for me to continue in what I was doing and writing.

Though my writing was in email version (blogging was foreign to me then)…God used my love for writing and life lessons along with Christian music and the Bible to deepen my faith.

I begin the journey again… so join with me and saddle up your horses!
